From Brethren to Brother
United Brethren (henceforth U.B.) is going solo. There are several reasons for this: 1. The Mormon Archipelago has made us feel all a little less lonely, I think, so there's no need to group together on one blog. With that in mind, if you want some good John-Fowlesisms then head over to fellow Archipelagoan blog A Bird's Eye View. 2. My wonderful wife Rebecca is enjoying her own little blog, Beckynews. Do head over there for her musings on Mormon womanhood and our own family life. 3. I am soon to be engaged on a new group project, The Bloggernacle Times. Therefore, I feel the need for my own private blog where I can say what I like without embarrassing my fellow bloggers. I like U.B. I hope you do too. Expect 4-5 posts per week on a variety of topics, to include (but not excluded to): international Mormonism, Mormon scripture, the Church in the news, and Mormon spiritual life. Thank-you for your continued attention, both here and in the Archipelago. P.S. John Crawford remains as guest-blogger. Hopefully, many fellow Island Dwellers will occupy that space as time goes on. P.P.S. United Brethren vs. U.B.? I'm not bothered, but U.B. is easier to type (or better still, UB). |

Ouch! Axed from Headlife too. . . .
Interesting news, but John F is of course still a force in the Bloggernacle. I dispute, however, the need to change the blog's name: (1) Once you have a known name, changing it confuses people; (2) United Brethren has a historical allusion to the 19th-century English religious sect which applies independent of the identity of the active blogger(s); Unity is good, so United Brethren has a nice inclusive feel to it.
Dave: you are right, of course. John: not axed! We're all Archipelagoans now!
I agree with Dave -- we should all just keep our blog names as they are... You've spent too much time branding to waste that now. (Man, I sound like such a marketing guy sometimes...)
It sounds like you've got big plans for future. I can't wait to see it all unfold!
Ouch too - axed so harshly - even if I am referred to as wonderful!! I agree - United Bretheren, not U.B. Don't mess with the product!

I don't know what I did to avoid the downsizing around here. But I am pleased with my new independent contractor status. Now I can be really critical of management!
