Babylon wrecked?

According to a report by the British Musuem, the ancient site of Babylon in Iraq has been wrecked by US and Polish soldiers who have been using the base as a camp. If this is true it is typical of the cultural arrogance/ignorance which seems to have beset this war from the outset. However, I urge caution: I blogged here last year about the looting of the Iraq Museum and bought the line that hundreds of thousands of artifacts were lost. However, the truth turned out to be less dramatic. As David Aaronovitch said at the time, "you cannot say anything too bad about the Yanks and not be believed". I hope he's right.
