double standard?

Robert Parry at Consortiumnews.com decries what he considers big media's double standard. He claims that in the months that followed Election 2000, the U.S. news media put the cause of Bush’s legitimacy ahead of its duty to accurately inform the public. This was done in the name of "national unity" in a difficult time. But the same media rejects this principle when it relates to Ukraine, making it clear that the truth about certain electoral anomalies must be told (national unity bedamned). But, after hanging chads and elections called before all the votes are counted, why will they listen? Some headlifers will be outraged that the US is being compared to the Ukraine. Your frustration may be legitimate, but fairly or unfairly, America is no longer held up as the beacon of world democracy. What can be done about this? Or does no-one care?
